Turn your samples into working instruments

Convert whole libraries between formats, or turn raw samples into mapped, playable instruments. Thousands in a single run, and every sample can be renamed to match its program so nothing breaks when you load it.
The Convert tab, showing supported output formats.

Built for libraries, not single files

Take whole sample/instrument libraries, and convert them to work with other software.

  • Thousands of instruments in one run — a full library in minutes, not an evening
  • Rename samples to the programGrand Piano C3 v2.wav instead of whatever the source called it, so references can't break later
  • Twelve formats — Kontakt, MPC, SFZ, DecentSampler, Bitwig, Korg, Soundfont, Omnisphere, HISE, EXS24
  • Auto note detection from filenames or the audio itself
  • A bare folder of WAVs becomes a mapped, playable instrument
Auto-sampler

Capture it, layer it, ship it

A multi-sampler rig. Record hardware over MIDI or render a plugin offline, build proper multi-velocity layers, fix the loop points, keep it all organised, and save the setup for next time.
Sample hardware

Sample the hardware you already own.

Point it at a MIDI port, set the range, press record. It plays every note for you, captures the audio coming back, and names and maps each file as it goes. The on-screen keys light up as it works so you can watch the capture progress.

  • Any MIDI device, synth or drum machine
  • Automatic note detection and mapping
  • Audition the source live before committing to a full run

Sample a plugin

Turn any plugin into a sample library.

Load an audio plugin and render it offline, faster than real time — no cables, no audio interface, no realtime waiting. Ideal for freezing a CPU-heavy instrument into something light enough to load anywhere.

  • Runs in its own process, so a misbehaving plugin can't take the app down
  • Faster-than-realtime offline rendering
  • Same mapping, layering and export as hardware capture

Multi-layer capture

As many velocity layers as the sound deserves.

Capture several velocities per key and keep them as separate layers, so the instrument responds the way the original did instead of flattening to one dynamic. Layers can be exported as real velocity groups.

  • Multiple velocities per key across the whole range
  • Exported as true velocity groups, not stacked one-shots
  • Per-key re-runs when one capture didn't land
velocity → groups

Loop editor

Sustaining sounds that actually sustain.

Pads and strings need to hold. The loop editor finds and lets you nudge loop points so a captured note can sustain indefinitely without a click or a swell at the seam.

  • Loop-point detection with manual override
  • Visual waveform editing on the captured file
  • Loop data written into the exported instrument

Sample library

Everything you record, organised as you record it.

Every capture lands in a library sorted by set, then key, then velocity. Audition any single sample, re-run just the key that came out wrong, or drop one velocity without touching the rest of the set.

  • Audition any individual captured sample
  • Re-run a single key instead of the whole instrument
  • Delete one velocity layer surgically

The randomizer

Four ways to roll something new

Real randomization, straight down to MIDI Implementation — fresh values on every parameter, per layer, with per-parameter odds you control. Guardrails keep a roll audible without making it predictable. Pick how far you want it thrown.
Chaos mode

Wide open. Fresh values, everywhere.

The full range on every parameter you leave enabled — filter type and cutoff, envelopes, both LFOs, modulation patchcords, waves per layer. Nothing is copied from anywhere. Loud, bright and unafraid.

  • Genuinely random values inside safe hardware bounds
  • Per-parameter odds — dial Pan to 30%, Tuning to 0%, Samples to 100%
  • Random modulation patchcords: real sources → real destinations
Wide-open fresh values · heart a roll to lean that way, ✕ to steer clear
Chaos
Drift mode

Nudge what's already loaded.

Starts from the patch on your synth right now and moves it by the amount you set. Perfect when a sound is nearly right — walk it somewhere better a few percent at a time instead of starting over.

  • A Drift % dial sets exactly how far each roll can move
  • Keeps the character, changes the detail
  • Roll repeatedly to walk a sound somewhere new
Nudges the sound that's already loaded · needs the MIDI input
Drift
Basic mode

Tame, and always usable.

The same true randomization, held inside musical bounds — gentler filter types, narrower wave choices, sane envelopes. Built for when you want a hundred keepers in a row rather than one wild one.

  • Conservative windows on every parameter
  • Restrained wave pool so layers stay coherent
  • The mode to leave running while you audition
Tame and always usable · heart a roll to lean that way, ✕ to steer clear
Basic
Category mode

Ask for a sound type by name.

The one mode that starts from factory material: pick Acoustic Piano, Organ, Synth Brass or Percussion and it builds a new patch of that type, then checks the result is coherent before it reaches your synth.

  • Dozens of sound categories per synth
  • A uniqueness dial from familiar through to strange
  • Tick the ROMs you actually own so rolls are never silent

Library & expansions

Every roll is saved, searchable and replayable

Nothing good gets lost. Each roll is written out as a loadable SysEx file as soon as you roll — name it, categorize it, heart it, or open it back up in the editor exactly as it was then tweak it and save as a new preset. This saves all your USER Preset slots on your synth from being used up and allows you to save custom presets directly inside of Synth2Software for later.

  • Search across the whole library, not just the loaded page
  • Expansions — group presets into banks with cover art
  • Import any .syx or .mid you already own

Run the randomizer in your browser

Plug your synth into your computer, open synth2software.com/studio in Chrome or Edge, grant MIDI access, and start rolling. Same engine as the desktop app, nothing to download. Free accounts get five rolls a day.

Works over Web MIDI

Direct SysEx to your hardware from the browser — no bridge app, no driver. Chrome, Edge, Brave and Opera on desktop.

Your library, synced

Rolls and expansions live on your account, so the browser and the desktop app see the same sounds.

Questions

Before you buy

Which browsers does the web randomizer work in?
Chrome, Edge, Brave and Opera on desktop. It needs the Web MIDI API with SysEx permission, which Safari does not support — so iPhone, iPad and Safari on Mac can't run it. The desktop app has no such limitation.
Do I need the desktop app to use the browser version?
No. The browser version is standalone — connect your synth by USB or a MIDI interface, allow MIDI access when prompted, and roll. The desktop app adds the auto-sampler and the format hub, which need local file access.
What counts as one randomization on the free plan?
One roll — one press of Randomize or Generate that sends a new patch to your synth. Editing parameters afterwards is unlimited and free. The counter resets at midnight UTC.
Will it damage or overwrite my synth's patches?
No. Rolls are written to the temporary patch area, which is what your synth loads a sound into when you select it. Nothing is committed to memory unless you press Save on the unit yourself.
My synth isn't listed. Will you add it?
More Korg and Yamaha units are being studied now. Randomizer support needs a documented SysEx implementation, which most 90s and 2000s rack gear has — get in touch with what you own.
Is the Randomizer Plugin included with the Desktop Suite?
It's a separate add-on. The Desktop Suite is the standalone application; the Randomizer Plugin runs the randomizer inside your DAW and replaces its MIDI-Out plug-in.
Refunds?
The free plan exists so you can confirm it works with your exact hardware before paying. If a paid purchase doesn't work on your setup, email within 14 days and you'll get a refund.
